Gary and Kathy have been involved with Camp Kasota West for over 25 years, and have both been active members of the Alberta and Canadian Camping Associations. On three occasions, Gary and Kathy have been honored by the ACA for their work.

Nika (Cove)

Camp Medic

Nika has been coming to camp every summer since 2011, and is so excited to have the opportunity to support camp as its medic this summer after working as a counsellor the last three summers. She has been working as a lifeguard since 2018, and has managed many first-aid scenarios. Outside of camp, Nika is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy at the University of British Columbia, with the intention of attending Law school afterwards.

Camp was always a special part of her summers growing up, and now she can't wait to make it a safe and positive experience for all the campers!

Devon (Polar)

Assistant Program Coordinator

Devon came to camp every year as a kid, and after a short break in 2020, returned as a counsellor, as he had always dreamed. Devon loves being outside, kayaking and swimming, and he takes any opportunity to share these passions with anyone he can, hoping to create unforgettable memories for everyone. He has been a lifeguard at camp for two years and is so excited to take on a larger role both on the waterfront as the waterfront coordinator and throughout camp! Devon is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry outside of camp, but if he could, he would be at camp and on the water all year long!

Emma (Bugs)

Program Coordinator

Emma has been attending camp since 2015, and she couldn’t be more excited for another incredible summer! This is her fourth year on staff, with previous experience as an archery, sailing, and CIT counsellor. This will now be her first year stepping into the role of Program Coordinator. She is passionate about creating a camp experience that is welcoming, safe, high-energy, and full of unforgettable moments for every camper and staff member.

Emma is currently working toward her Bachelors of Education at Mount Royal University, with a minor in Physical Literacy. When she’s not at camp, she teaches and coaches dance at studios across Calgary, where she loves inspiring dancers ages 2-18 to move with confidence, creativity, and joy.

Camp holds a truly special place in Emma’s heart, and she can’t wait for a summer packed with laughter, growth, connection, and so many amazing memories!

Sara (Sprout)

Assistant Program Coordinator

Sara has been coming to camp since 2017. This is her fourth summer working at camp, and her first year as Assistant Program Coordinator. Sara is currently studying Law at Queen’s University Belfast and works at various dance studios in both Northern Ireland and Calgary, spreading her love of dance to the next generation.

Camp means a lot to Sara, and she cannot wait to pass on the love to all the campers while creating a positive environment for kids to learn and grow. She is looking forward to making all kinds of crafts and running the Archery Program. She is very excited to take on this new role and ready for all the fun this summer will hold!
