What Should I Bring to Camp?

We know packing for camp can be difficult! That’s why we’ve created a handy-dandy list of must-have items, to make packing for your first summer camp experience a breeze! Click here to see the checklist.

When/where should I drop-off/pick up my child?

Camper pick up and drop off information can be found HERE.

Can I pick-up/drop-off my child directly at CKW in Sylvan Lake?

If you are not from the Calgary area, or are planning on driving your child directly to, or picking up your child directly from camp, please contact us to let us know that they will not be at the bus.

If you are dropping off your child at camp, please arrive between 11:00 and 11:30 AM on the first day of camp, and at 9:00 – 9:30 AM on Saturday for pickup.

Directions to and from camp can be found HERE.

Can I bring a cell phone to camp?

Camp Kasota West discourages campers from bringing electronics such as cell phones, portable gaming systems, and portable music players to camp. Camp Kasota West is not responsible for the loss or damage of items brought to camp. Cell phones can take away from the camp experience and the sense of independence that we strive to foster at camp. If your child requires to have access to their phone throughout the week, we ask that they call under the supervision of their counsellor. We ask parents to contact us directly with any concerns throughout the week so that we can be part of the solution.

Can I share a cabin with my friends?

We do allow for a single cabin mate requests when registering a camper for a CKW program. This means that when registering you can list one other camper with whom you’d like to bunk.

More information about cabin mate requests can be found here, or you can contact us with any questions or concerns.

If my child needs medication while at camp how should I provide them?

If your child needs to take medication while on-site at Camp Kasota West our on-site medic will ensure proper administration, dosage and consumption. Any and all medication must be provided to the camp medic at the bus stop or on camper drop off.

In order for us to be able to administer the medication, it must be provided to us in a sealed, properly labeled, pharmacy issued container such as a blister pack. If medication is not received in this manner, then we will not be able to provide it to your child throughout the week, and we will have to fill a new prescription at the Sylvan Lake pharmacy, the cost for which you will be responsible for.

What payment methods are there for registration?

To pay your camper registration fee, you are able to pay by cheque and e-transfer. Please mail your cheque to our Calgary office address (which can be found HERE).
